The Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Environment was held in Khabarovsk on July 16-18 as part of Russia's APEC chairmanship.
At the meeting Russia was represented by Mr. Sergei Donskoi, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. Ministers of natural resources and heads of subordinate agencies and services on environmental protection from APEC economies considered many important issues, such as biodiversity and the protection of cultural heritage sites, rational use of resources, sustainable use of natural resources, combating trans-border pollution of the environment and mitigation of climate change, biodiversity and green growth.
As the outcome of 2012 Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Environment Statement was adopted. This Statement points out that the APEC economies focus on environmental protection and have a special position on how they need to contribute to the development of existing projects and establishment of new projects for improving the environment in the Asia-Pacific Region.
